This class has helped me a lot in my English 1102 class. We have been learning to write papers on specific topics without rambling on about other things. This week in my English class I was assigned a paper that is about a book we just finished reading in class. For this paper assignment, we had to use a literary device we have discussed in class and provide textual proof. In class yesterday we talked about our thesis statements. She told me that my thesis statement was a great example of a narrowing a topic and it was easy to go to the book and find specific information. Thanks to this class, I have learned how to stray away from the broad topics and stay focused on one subject. This class has also help me to learn how to cite sources properly in MLA style for my English 1102 class.

I agree with Brianna. I have learned how to narrow down my topics and it has really helped me in my english 1102 class as well. My teacher even commented on how I have improved in just one paper. I also agree about Galileo. All in all this class has been extremely helpful to me too and will continue to help me in other classes.
ReplyDeleteI think the skills we've learned on how to evaluate sources in this class are great. I always knew that scholarly journals were credible sources, but sometimes with popular sources it is a little more difficult to determine credibility. The CRAP test helps me to easily recall the criteria using the acronym.

ReplyDeletei like how you were able to use the skills learned in order to help you in your other academic classes . the crap test was a very useful source for me as well it helped me weed out a credible vs non reliable source . i also agree with you about the Galileo source .
ReplyDeleteI also agree that this class has helped me to determine what a good research topic is, and I am sure that this class is great to have at the same time as an English class. The crap test and Galileo are both resources that will be very beneficial to us in the future.
ReplyDeleteI had not thought about how this class has helped us to learn the proper way to develop a thesis, but I completely agree with you! It really has helped to understand how to start a paper and then follow up with finding good, credible research materials to flesh out the topic.
